WASHINGTON – The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) announced a new partnership today with Girls Who Code (GWC) to develop pathways for young women to pursue careers in cybersecurity and technology. This partnership will address diversity disparities by working with employers to create tangible pathways for young women, particularly women of color, to gain hands-on experience in government, the private sector, and the non-profit sector.
Through this partnership, CISA will create opportunities for collaboration that will offer awareness, training and pathways to cybersecurity careers for girls, women, and those who identify themselves as nonbinary.
“One of my top priorities as CISA is to encourage more women and girls into careers in cybersecurity and tech,” stated Jen Easterly, CISA Director. “The cybersecurity workforce is awash with gender gaps, which makes us less ready to face the future threats. I couldn’t be more excited about our partnership with Girls Who Code to help build the next generation of cyber talent where young women, everywhere, can see themselves in cyber.”

Both CISA, Girls Who Code, are committed to closing any gender gaps in cybersecurity workforce by recruiting more young women to the workforce. This will help prepare our nation for the threats of tomorrow and today.
Last Month, President Biden met with education and private sector leaders to make commitments to support the Administration’s all-of-nation effort against cybersecurity threats. Girls Who Code has announced that it will create a micro credentialing program to help historically excluded groups in technology, and make early career opportunities and scholarships more accessible for underrepresented groups.
