*. The founder and CEO of Tomco Service Group has become a mentor and inspiration to young African American engineers
Nipseyhussle famously stated that is “the greatest human act” and that to inspire was the highest human act. These words set the tone for a whole generation of innovators and changemakers who have overcome all odds to prove that there are many avenues to success. Many people today find their wealth through inheritances and large brands-name conglomerates. However, Jherrod Thomas, the 32-year old from Mississippi is a walking testament that success can be achieved through hard work, dedication, and a 9-5 job.
Jherrod is an esteemed engineer with over 10+ years of experience working in the automotive industry. By leveraging his knowledge of financial literacy, and combining it with his unique skill set, Jherrod earned the title of a millionaire at the young age of 32. He was able to come up with creative ways to increase his income while still working his 9-5 job. He used his earnings to identify stock market investment opportunities, including self-driving vehicles, to grow his nest and maximize his profit.
” After years of struggling to make ends meet at my 9-5 job, Jherrod states that she decided to change her life. “I began to read as many books as I could on wealth building, investing and financial literacy. I realized that I could combine my wealth-building skills with my existing skills to achieve my goal of making one million dollars. After I have achieved this goal for me, my next goal is helping others achieve it .”
Since 2016, Jherrod has dedicated a large part of his time to mentor, coach, and train young African American engineers in various disciplines of automotive engineering to help them follow the same path to success. Jherrod’s aim is to make them more marketable and more valuable in today’s job marketplace by providing a step-by-step guideline and a custom course. Jherrod also assists them in pursuing leadership opportunities within the company.
“My service is unique because of the unique experiences African Americans have, and it helps those who most need it,” Jherrod says. I offer tips and guidance to help them improve their interview skills. I also offer negotiation and sales advice and help with their financial literacy. As Robert Kiyosaki once said, ‘if people are prepared to be flexible, keep an open mind and learn, they will grow richer and richer despite tough changes.’”
Jherrod’s vision is now a reality. It was based on proof of concept, dedication and a desire to share the wealth with others by helping them in their careers.
