France, Italy and Spain had the highest numbers of coronavirus-related cases on Saturday.
French health authorities say they confirmed 104,611 new cases on Saturday. The daily tally hit a record high for the third consecutive day and topped the 100,000 mark for the first time.
Italy reported 54,762 new cases, also renewing the country’s record for three days in a row.
The rapid spread of Omicron variants is believed to have accelerated the surges.
