After Jesus, the triumph of Christianity

RELIGION: The passage through Jesus Christ on earth divided history literally. Time started to be measured in before and after Christ, seen the size of His influence, transforming our way of thinking and living.

His birth, wrapped in remarkable events and millenary prophecies, started a new period in human history. The Bible itself was divided into Old and New Testaments, giving signs of its great influence.

Despite having such a short ministry, with only 3 years of activities, Jesus Christ has built a growing and inspiring legacy. Could a man mark history so deeply? In fact, we cannot admit that Jesus Christ is an ordinary person.

CS Lewis, the famous British writer, said that there are three ways to see Jesus Christ: a madman, a liar, or actually who He claimed to be. Certainly a madman could not achieve such a legacy. A liar would soon be discovered. So, Jesus Christ was actually God incarnate.

In his passage through this earth, Jesus chose 12 disciples to follow Him. It was through them that Christianity triumphed, as He had promised Peter, saying that the gates of hell would not prevail against the Church (Matthew 16: 18) .

After the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Church was founded through the disciples, but this was only possible after the descent of the Holy Spirit. That is, after they received the power of God.

“And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you; but remain in the city of Jerusalem, until ye are endued with power from on high,” Jesus said in Luke 24:49.

Thus, in Acts chapter 2, we read that the Holy Spirit descended on the disciples and Christianity began to triumph through the preaching of the Gospel. The more persecuted, the more the Church grew and spread, reaching a third of humanity.

Throughout the centuries this triumph has remained and the Church has continued to advance despite all the difficulties that arise.
