Kenya: More rain predicted, Weather Agency urges caution on roads

Nairobi – The Kenya Meteorological Department announced Friday that there will be rain in Nairobi and other areas of Kenya in the weather outlook for the festive season.

The Met department stated that areas such as Wajir and Garissa, Isiolo and Mandera will continue to receive rain showers. It urged drivers to be aware of slippery roads and other adverse circumstances.

Additional areas of Kitui and Makueni will also experience the same.

“Morning showers are possible in a few areas. Agency revealed that afternoon and night showers can be expected in few to many places, and that heavy rains are possible in a few to many places.

Areas of Nyamira and Laikipia will also see rainfall.

Kenyans were urged to plan ahead based on the weather outlook when they travel during the festive period.

The department announced Monday that the country will experience consistent rainfall for the remaining days in December.

It was stated that areas in the Highlands East and Rift Valleys, the South-eastern Lowlands, and the Coast, the Highlands West and Rift Valleys, Lake Victoria Basin and Central and South Rift Valleys, North-eastern, and parts of North-western Kenya would likely experience consistent rainfall.

The agency stated that heavy rains are possible in the Highlands East and Rift Valleys, South-eastern Lowlands, North-eastern, and the Coastal strip, which could lead to isolated storms.
