TIANJIN, China, Nov. 25, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — The intelligent container terminal in Section C of the Beijiang Area of Tianjin Port jointly built by XCMG (SHE: 000425), Huawei and other companies, was officially put into operation on October 17, 2021. As an integral part of the intelligent horizontal transportation system, XCMG’s pure electric offset port tractor XPT70E and the ART AI transportation robot which was jointly developed with Tianjin Port Group, will provide unmanned, intelligent and electric logistics services in the world’s first smart zero-carbon port terminal.
Unmanned, intelligent and electrified ports are the future trend in the industry. XCMG chairman and CEO Wang Min has always placed great importance on the construction of smart ports.
XCMG assembled a team consisting of technical experts, project managers, and on-site workers. They spent three years in the harshest conditions to test the ART’s chassis performance and self-driving system. Also, they tested alignment joint testing and performed real-world ship operations. Compared to the conventional AGV used in conventional automated ports, the ART can save costs by at least 30 percent.
Unmanned driving technology uses natural navigation and does not require additional infrastructure or investment. The L4 autopilot brain is capable of interacting with all equipment, including lock stations, quay cranes and automatic charging piles.
The XPT70E pure electric offset port tractor is suitable for cargo transportation in port storage yards. The tractor’s strengths include high starting torque, high speed regulation precision, energy conservation, and high system efficiency. Its offset cockpit design allows for a larger operation view. The pure electric 4×2 drive mode can run one machine with an empty container, while the dual motors can handle heavy cargo. This not only saves energy but also adapts to changing working conditions.
In addition, the XPT70E’s interconnection function can monitor the vehicle’s position, speed, environment temperature, battery, motor information and fault alert in real time and supports access to the port’s management system to improve scheduling and operation efficiency.
XCMG offers port machinery products, including stackers, forklifts, and stackers that are pure electric, to meet the growing demand for high-end solutions in different ports. They not only demonstrate XCMG’s strength in port machinery, but also provide new opportunities to provide smart ports with comprehensive and innovative logistics solutions. “
