The greenest arena

In Seattle, we’re creating the ultimate arena experience. The new, state-of-the-art Climate Pledge Arena, home to the NHL’s Seattle Kraken, the WNBA’s Seattle Storm and the best in live music and entertainment. The arena will use Verizon 5G technology as well as the Distributed Antenna System (DAS), and Converged Network Service (CNS) for voice, data, and wifi services. It also features a video wall, rainforest wall, and cashierless scanners. This makes it one of the most environmentally friendly arenas. You can even freeze rainwater into the ice for hockey games.

The latest 5G Portal

Yesterday, we celebrated the biggest night in Latin music as we partnered with Univision and the 22nd annual Latin Grammy Awards for a 5G enhanced experience. The Verizon 5G Portal allowed fans to be closer to the top artists and the red carpet live in Las Vegas from the comfort of their home. The portal allowed users to be transported onto the red carpet, backstage, and into the press area. The 5G Ultra Wideband’s massive capacity and ultra-low lag make this an unforgettable experience.

Kindness comes to Austin

Last Sunday, we helped Austin, Texas look a little kinder and brighter thanks to our latest Kindness mural, which encourages visitors to share the love. Many Austinites took up a brush to make their community shine, along with Tara Johnston, a local artist.

Supporting the Pat Tillman Foundation

Tuesday, we surprised The Pat Tillman Foundation with a $50,000 grant to support their mission in empowering active military, veterans, and their spouses with academic scholarships, lifelong leadership development opportunities and a diverse, global community of high-performing mentors and peers.

Never stop learning

Here’s one way to be kind to yourself and your brain – learn something new! Check out Christine D’Angelo’s insightful article on LinkedIn’s Inside Verizon page. Christine gives us an up close look at the benefits she experienced when she committed to doing one new thing every day for 30 days.

V Teamers going above and beyond

Senior Customer Service Representative Arlene Fraser was on a call helping a customer when she noticed he seemed to be having health difficulties. Arlene quickly acted and called the emergency services. Arlene remained on the phone with him, comforting him until help arrived. We were so touched by the customer’s gratitude. He said that without her assistance, he doesn’t know what would have happened. Arlene’s managers explain that this is Arlene doing all she can to help customers and company employees every day. Arlene, thank you!

We also want to thank Nate Taylor and his entire team for visiting Washington Episcopal School, Bethesda. Nate Taylor and his team of technicians and managers spoke to the children about Verizon’s communications with the U.S.A and around the globe. They set up stations to demonstrate Fios equipment and also for mock manhole installations. One of the splicers was seen getting up in a bucket truck, which is always a popular attraction. After class Mrs Owens stated that two girls jumped up and down, claiming they wanted to become a Verizon technician. One girl said, “Wow! That was awesome!” Verizon is awesome!’”

Thanks to Nate, Imani Fletcher, Jamar Johnson, Keith Mason, Karim Maynard, Hasan Garment, Jeff Swerczek, and James Watkins for inspiring the next generation of V teamers!

We also celebrate the great accomplishment of James Emmons, a V Teamer and Instructional Designer. Sean Emmons gave his senior speech recently about how he overcome his stutter with hard work and the support of his family and therapists. James agrees that Sean Emmons is a champion. We also believe that it’s important to respect and celebrate our differences.
