SEATTLE–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Raisbeck Engineering, a leading provider of performance enhancement systems for business, commercial and military aircraft, today announced that it has received an order from Redding Aero Enterprises, Inc., a California-based operation, for eleven EPIC Caravan drag reduction systems with deliveries anticipated to begin first quarter of 2022. Redding Aero is now Raisbeck’s first EPIC Caravan client. The order is contingent on the system receiving Supplemental type Certification (STC).

“We are very pleased to have Redding Aero as our first EPIC Caravan customer. Redding Aero was the aircraft we flew for our certification testing. Hal Chrisman, President at Raisbeck Engineering, stated that this is an important point. “Our first customer is the one who knows the most about the modification and has experienced the performance improvements the EPIC Caravan modification brings. You can’t ask for a better endorsement. We have just kicked off a demonstration tour across the United States and I am looking forward to a similar reception from many more customers!”

Established in 1972 and occupying over 32,000 square feet of hangar and office space at Redding Municipal Airport (RDD), Redding Aero has built a company reputation with standards based on integrity, trust, and excellent service. The company is certified PART 135 and currently operates 11 Caravan 208Bs to support flight operations for overnight package carriers and medical couriers. Redding Aero also offers fixed-based operations as well as aircraft maintenance services.

EPIC Caravan was designed to address the aerodynamic drag issues associated with the Cessna Caravan 208Bs currently flying with cargo pods. The Cessna Caravan 208B experiences a significant decrease in speed and an increase in fuel burn when equipped with the factory cargo pod. The new drag reduction system weighs in at 38 lbs. It perfectly addresses market needs to reduce drag, and fuel burn. Operators have a cost-effective, more environmentally-friendly solution. The system reduces drag at all stages of flight and allows them to increase cruise speed by 4 – 5 knees using standard cruise power settings. Fuel flows can also be reduced and ITT decreased by flying at the same speed. A lower ITT means less engine maintenance cost and the Forward Cargo Pod Fairing removes the need to have a cargo pod deice boot. This further reduces maintenance costs. The new drag reduction system will be approved by the STC in mid-December.
